To celebrate finally graduating college, some friends and I went to Oahu for about a week. I'd never been to Hawaii before and I loved it! We stayed at an AirBNB in Laei - the town that houses BYU. This quiet mormon (and dry!) town had gorgeous beaches next to our condo that were nearly empty. I loved hiking around Oahu, renting a bike and riding through the country, eating huge plates of shrimp off the food carts, eating mochi and fresh coconuts, laying in the warm sand and swimming in the waves. I went on 3 hikes - koko head, maunawili falls and laie falls, pictured below. Koko HeadMaunawili FallsMaunawili Falls is a 2.5 mile hike through the VERY MUDDY jungle. We were slipping and sliding and it even started pouring on us. The major destination of this hike is the waterfall of course, and the swimming hole below it. Laie Falls My last hike in Hawaii was definitely the hardest! Laie Falls Hike.
Length: 10 miles round trip Elevation: 2200 ft. I headed on this hike solo on the second to last day of the trip and thankfully met three random hikers en route. They helped me get to the top and it was a struggle to keep up with them. We stopped shortly at the Laei Falls for swimming and snacks before finally making it to the top. I definitely felt like a million dollars after finishing this hike and earned some cocktails/beach time!
