This hike is for sure my favorite workout of all time. You don't need a gym subscription in the summer if you live in Portland, Oregon. The Columbia Gorge is one giant free membership gym that you can access every single day! I've done this hike a few times now and I'm working on timing my trips and constantly beating my score. When you're ready for a challenge - head up this monster and suck in the fresh air at the top. In springtime, it's loaded with wildflowers. They die off in the summer but the wind up at the top keeps you cool. Bring your favorite beverage and stay a while once you hit the summit. Starting Point: Dog Mountain Trailhead Distance: 6.8 miles Elevation: 2800 ft. Driving Time From Portland: 70 minutes June 5th 2015August 7th 2014

AuthorMy love for hiking began after I took a celebration graduation trip to Oahu, Hawaii in 2014 and went on three awesome hikes in the warm tropical weather. Favorite Links:Archives
