Stage 1 : buy the apple juice - we used generic apple juice from the grocery store but unfiltered raw juice is preferred. However, generic was cheap and we could get a bunch. We chose a yeast from the brewing store. and Steven sanitized the giant jar, filled with juice, sugar and yeast and then capped it with the airlock. He added vodka to the airlock to kill any germs that might sneak into it and put it away for about 1 month. Stage 2: cleaning the smaller bottles, juicing the flavors (grapefruit, ginger, pear), adding the sugar/sweetner that creates the carbonation and bottling the different combos (we made nine!) We sampled the hard cider (super high proof!) - tasted strange but I still have high hopes. We made a grapefruit cider, a cinnamon spice cider, a ginger pear cider, a sweet cider, a plain dry cider, and a few others.
